This beautiful stone house is located in the heart of Sablet, a medieval village in Provence France. Dating from the seventeenth century, the house has been tastefully renovated with all the comforts of a modern home while maintaining all of its authentic Provencal character and charm. Located on a narrow street inside the walls of this quaint village, the house is only a few steps away from the Church of St. Nazaire as well as the shops and restaurants of this Cotes du Rhone wine village.

The house is large and can comfortably accommodate up to seven people. It is three stories, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The windows are covered with shutters and original wood beams can be seen throughout. The house is air conditioned and centrally heated by electricity and decorated with Provencal artwork and hand-painted pottery. It is an ideal gathering place for families and friends as well as an idyllic retreat for foodies, wine lovers, hikers, climbers, artists, and writers.

The house in detail

Ground Floor

Enter the house on the ground floor through a massive oak door into a large entrance hall where coats and hiking gear can be stored. Bedroom One is on the ground floor, featuring a queen-size bed, night stands, dresser, and large closet. The room hosts an ensuite bathroom with tub, toilet, and sink. There is also a large laundry room with washer and dryer on this level. An iron and ironing board are provided as well.

A garage is available for storing bikes between rides around Sablet and throughout the region. While the garage is not large enough to park a car, there is ample parking in the village a few minutes walk from the house.

first floor

This is the main living area of the house featuring the kitchen/family room, living room, and den. The large, well-equipped kitchen features a beautiful oak table with seating for eight, making this an ideal area to savor meals using the fresh ingredients available throughout the region. The kitchen library has a selection of cookbooks by Richard Olney, Patricia Wells, and others. Guidebooks, brochures, and maps of the region can be found here as well.

The family room adjacent to the kitchen is a lovely spot to relax in front of the wood-burning fireplace. Choose from a selection of fiction and non-fiction books to read or simply close your eyes and relax. You are in France, after all. Two steps from the kitchen is the living room with its own wood-burning fire place. Spend a cozy evening in, watching one of the large selection of English and French DVDs.

Be sure to spend some time on the large terrace; enjoy lunch, dinner, or the traditional Provencal aperitif pastis: anise-flavored alcohol served over ice and diluted with water.

The den offers a sofa/sleeper and bathroom with shower.

Second floor

A flight of stairs leads up to bedrooms two and three, as well as another full bathroom. Bedroom two is the master bedroom, furnished with a queen bed, bedside tables, dresser and mirror, as well as a dressing room.

French doors lead from the master bedroom out onto a private terrace that looks south over the village rooftops to great view of the Dentelles de Montmirail. A small table and chairs, as well as an outdoor shower can be found here, if you need to cool off while sunbathing.

Bedroom three has two twin beds along with a desk and a large closet for clothes. The full bathroom is situated between the two bedrooms and has separate shower and bathtub.
